John has been a Partner at Commins Hendriks since 1984 and is an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law and an Accredited Mediator.

John is actively involved in cases which include personal injury claims, medical negligence claims, and public liability claims. He also works in commercial disputes, product liability, motor vehicle insurance, and work-related matters. He regularly appears at coronial inquests.

“I represent small and large clients throughout Australia,” he says. “I can bring to cases the resources of a city firm but with the understanding acquired from working with country people.”

“Medical negligence has become a big part of the practice and for me, the most rewarding cases are representing families of infants damaged at birth,” he adds. “Often, it’s a lifelong sentence, but if we can ensure they have the funds to properly manage that damage, it makes a huge difference to their lives.”

Working in one of the largest law firms in country NSW has enabled John to specialise in a wide range of litigation and dispute resolution. He has seen the practice of law change substantially over the years.  Technology, for example, makes it possible to run cases originating across Australia from a country base such as Wagga Wagga.

An accomplished horseman, he has represented Australia on horseback in the dressage ring, winning Australian and State championships in both dressage and eventing.
